23 Search me, God, and know my heart;
Put me to the test and know my anxious thoughts;
24 And see if there is any hurtful way in me,
And lead me in the everlasting way.
—Psalm 139:23-24
God has a dream for our lives.
He alone has access to the world we carry around within us. He comprehends how we’re wired: the uniqueness of our personality, the bent of our affections, and the root of our motivations. He carries a dream for who we can be, and fights for our possibilities, regardless of our faults and failures.
God also has designs for us.
While we freely make authentic choices, God also introduces people, circumstances, and possibilities to encourage our best. His efforts are predictably both behind the curtain, as well as front and center stage in our lives, promoting our full potential in Him.
Like air bubbles arising from the bottom of a fish tank, many inner motions surface from our unseen depths, bursting into our conscious minds. Perhaps behind all of this is the Holy Spirit, who aids and abets this plot to inspire and promote God’s dreams and designs for our lives.
